Incredible Album – Eric Bachmann
Holy s&$% this album’s good. If you’re a folk-rock fan — no, if you’re a music fan — you’ll love Eric Bachmann’s new solo album “To the Races“! I mean, holy s&$% it’s good.
Who the hell is Eric Bachmann, you ask? He’s a super-talented singer-songwriter who has been around a while, fronting at least a couple different bands over the years. I found out about him because Ben Folds (who’s a god to me) recommended Bachmann’s current band Crooked Fingers. (It sounds like Ben and Bachmann knew each other from their Chapel Hill, NC, days.) I really liked — and highly recommend — the Crooked Fingers album “Dignity and Shame,” so I’ve tried to follow the band’s journey.
Bachmann’s solo album “To the Races” is a stripped-down acoustic album that is incredibly well crafted and emotionally deep. Bachmann’s voice is unique, rich and strong. One reviewer said he’s Bob Dylan with a good voice. (Jen Moe, are you reading this?!)

I hope you enjoy one of my favorite songs, “Carrboro Woman,” which takes me back to my North Carolina days (Carrboro is just outside of Chapel Hill).
